More About Mayte

Mayte Prida is a three-time breast cancer survivor, TV and radio show host, author, motivational speaker and one of the most prominent Hispanic advocates of women and health issues in the U.S. today. At the age of 24, Mayte became the youngest news anchor in Los Angeles, the largest Hispanic market in the country. After a successful career in news, she produced and hosted children’s television shows “El Mundo de Mayte / The World of Mayte” on FOX and “A Mayte Xmas” for PBS.

In 2001, after surviving cancer, Mayte wrote her firstbook “A Difficult Journey, My Battle with Cancer” to reach out to women affected by the disease. Soon after, she was named as Hispanic spokesperson for Ford Motor Company, the Pharmaceutical and Research Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the National Honey Board.

Mayte has been invited to speak at Capitol Hill on behalf of the Health Disparities Bill. She is involved in the creation of several initiatives to improve the medical and health issues of Hispanics in the U.S. Currently, Mayte co-hosts the National TV show Viva su Segunda Juventu, does TV specials such as Faces of the Crisis, Hosts her own Radio Show “Arriba con Mayte” and is successful heading her own Foundation.

In her spare time, Mayte practices meditation for healing and enjoys boxing and dancing for exercise. Mayte is an avid traveler and prefers to visit exotic locations to explore the planet. She has two children Tommy (19) and Isabella (18) and is currently living in Los Angeles.
