Lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Glendale Adventist Medical Center is committed to fighting this disease and is pleased to offer low-cost lung cancer screenings.
About 85 percent of lung cancers are caused by smoking. The risk of developing lung cancer increases with the amount and length of time a person smokes. Risk also increases as a person ages, with most lung cancers occurring in people 55 and older.
The main test used to detect lung cancer is low-dose computed tomography (CT). A low-dose CT scan uses less radiation than conventional CT scans.
Candidates for our low-cost lung cancer screening services are:
- Age 55 to 80 years old
- Heavy smokers or have a history of heavy smoking (1 pack a day for 30 years or 2 packs a day for 15 years)
- Either current smokers or have quit within the last 15 years.
