 Many people who come the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Glendale Adventist Medical Center have never had surgery. For them, the thought of surgery can cause fear and anxiety. That's why all patients who come to the ASC are greeted immediately with a smile and a trained staff member who will help the patient prepare for their surgery or pre-assessment appointment.
Pre-Assessment
The ASC at GAMC has streamlined the pre-surgical process for surgeons and clinical staff by offering their own pre-assessment. This process is also more convenient for the patient and gives them the opportunity to see where they will be having their surgical procedure, which will increase their comfort level on the day of their surgery.
Pre-Op
 Once patients have completed signing the necessary forms for surgery, they are taken almost immediately to the pre-op area where they are given a surgical gown, made comfortable on the gurney and given some tools to help them feel at ease with their surroundings. Patients are also given pre- and post-operative instructions and meet with their anesthsiologist and nurse.
Just before the patient is taken into the operating room, they will meet with their surgeon to confirm the procedure, answer any last minute questions and, if necessary, mark the surgery site.
Post-Op
Once the procedure has been successfully performed, the patient is taken into the semi-private recovery area where they will spend the next hour or two under the care of a post-operative nurse. After about 30 minutes, the patient may visit with a family member. Once they are ready to go home, a private exit will lead them directly to the parking area.
