What Our Patients Are Saying
Our Scores
Rehabilitative Services at Glendale Adventist uses the Functional Independence Measure tool, or FIM®, to measure functional outcomes. FIM® refers to a scale that is used to measure an individual's ability to function independently and is applied to six basic functions:
- Self care
- Sphincter control
- Transfers (from bed to chair, etc.)
- Locomotion
- Communication
- Social cognition
FIM® is used all over the world in medical rehabilitation units like the one at GAMC. The maximum possible score on the FIM® scale is 126. The higher the score, the greater the patient's functional independence. The numbers below demonstrate the average increase in FIM scores for patients at GAMC, compared to regional and national data:
*Data extracted from UDS-PRO® System Quarterly Reports, year 2011.
