Glendale Adventist Medical Center Honors Larry Zarian for his 25 Years of Service to the Hospital and the Community
GLENDALE, CA - September 11, 2009 - Glendale Adventist Medical Center unveiled a new plaque on the Wall of Honor on September 9, honoring Larry Zarian, four-time Glendale Mayor, Transportation Commissioner, Glendale Adventist governing board member and long-time supporter.
The Wall of Honor is located just outside of the main entrance of the East Tower. The plaque commemorates Mr. Zarian's dedicated service to the hospital and the community.
"This event was a small demonstration of our great appreciation for his long-time support of our hospital and the community," said Morre Dean, President/CEO Glendale Adventist. "He has made a tremendous difference in the 25 plus years at our hospital."
More than 75 members of the community, hospital staff and Zarian's family gathered to surprise Mr. Zarian at the unveiling.
"I've never been so surprised. When I came out and saw all of these people, I thought there was something going on here," said Larry Zarian. "There are so many quality people here that I love and respect."
"Twenty-five years ago, when I joined the hospital board, they had a commitment. That hasn't changed - they have a commitment to the mission of the hospital. "Thank you for working with me and listening to my suggestions," said Zarian.
"Larry is such a great asset to the community, " said Ara Najarian, former Mayor and Glendale City Councilman. "He is a die-hard supporter of Glendale. Words cannot convey how happy we are to have Larry in our City," said Najarian.
Zarian, born 1937, was the first Armenian-American to serve on the city council in the City of Glendale, California. He also served as Glendale Mayor. He currently serves on the California Transportation Commission.
