Fighting prostate cancer begins with an annual screening
GLENDALE, CA - Men 50 and older are encouraged to join Glendale Adventist Medical Center in the fight against prostate cancer by having a prostate cancer screening on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 5 to 8 PM at the hospital (Cancer Center) located at 381 Merrill Ave, Glendale.
Screening consists of digital rectal exam and a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. The cost is $10. Glendale Adventist Medical Center physicians and physician residents will provide the screenings.
An estimated 241,740 new prostate cancer cases will occur in the United States during 2012. In most cases, there are no symptoms associated with early prostate cancer. It remains the second leading cause of cancer related mortality among men. However, The survival rate for prostate cancer is quite high, especially when diagnosed early.
