Toshiba Aquilion Premium CT Scanner Now at Glendale Adventist Medical Center

Glendale, CA -- May 10, 2012 -- Thanks to generous donors, Glendale Adventist Medical Center has purchased a Toshiba Aquilion Premium CT scanner. The hospital hosted a ribbon cutting event for donors on May 9. The donors raised approximately 1 million and the cost of the scanner was about 1.1 million.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center is the first in Glendale to have the latest technology to reduce radiation dose to the patient by up to 50 percent.

The Toshiba Aquilion Premium is one of the premier CT scanners on the market today, delivering 160 rows of detectors, able to cover up to 8cm in one gantry rotation. This means faster scan times, resulting in a reduction in the amount of time the patient spends on the table while increasing patient comfort and satisfaction.

"Implementation of this technology will allow us to better support key hospital service lines such as Cardiac and Stroke, where time to diagnosis is critical," said Rob Marchuk, Vice President Ancillary Services at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

"Patient safety and radiation exposure reduction was one of the key drivers in our decision to partner with Toshiba on this project," said Marchuk. The Aquilion Premium CT scanner has the latest dose reduction technology that minimizes exposure to the patient while optimizing resolution and image quality.

"We are excited to be able to bring this technology to Glendale Adventist Medical Center and our community," said Marchuk.
