The Joint Commission

Glendale Adventist Medical Center is accredited by the The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses and consumers. The Joint Commission sets the standards by which health care quality is measured in America and around the world.

Additionally, the Joint Commission has named GAMC a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance.

Advanced Primary Stroke Center

Glendale Adventist is proud to be one of the few certified Advanced Primary Stroke Centers in Los Angeles County. This certification, awarded by the The Joint Commission, means that the GAMC stroke program follows national guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

Joint Replacement

Glendale Adventist Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for its joint replacement program (knee and hip) by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care.

STEMI Receiving Center

Glendale Adventist is designated a STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Receiving Center. This designation, given by L.A. County's Emergency Medical Services, recognizes hospitals that are specially equipped and staffed for the rapid, quality care of heart attack patients.

Chest Pain Center

Glendale Adventist is one of the few accredited chest pain centers in the region. The accreditation is awarded to a few U.S. hospitals by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. This accreditation means that Glendale Adventist has met the society's strict requirements for everything from treatment facility design to specialized training of emergency personnel to timely diagnosis and treatment, including angioplasty.

Get With the Guidelines-Stroke

In 2014, GAMC received the Get With the Guidelines-Gold Plus and the Target Stroke Honor Roll award from the American Stroke Association for excellence in stroke care. Hospitals receiving the Stroke Gold Plus Award have reached an aggressive goal of treating patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care for 12 consecutive months.

Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care

Blue Shield of California and Blue Cross have named Glendale Adventist a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, recognizing the hospital for providing quality care for cardiac patients with improved outcomes and lower rates of complications.

Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery

Blue Shield of California and Blue Cross have named Glendale Adventist a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in quality special care, which expanded recently to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety, and new cost efficiency measures.

Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program

Glendale Adventist is accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program. Additionally, GAMC's Cancer Services was one of two hospitals in Los Angeles to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer.

Pink Ribbon Facility

GAMC's Cancer Center was recently named a Pink Ribbon Facility by Hologic. Pink Ribbon Facilities are digital imaging centers recognized as providing excellence in breast health paired with their exceptional commitment and support to the women of their community.

 Approved Stroke Center

In 2009, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and Emergency Medical Services Agency mandated new guidelines for the transport of stroke patients to county-designated Approved Stroke Centers. Glendale Adventist was one of the first hospitals designated as an Approved Stroke Center (ASC) in LA County and the only hospital in Glendale to receive this distinction.

In a survey conducted by the Daily News, Glendale Adventist's Therapy & Wellness Center was named Readers' Choice Best..The Therapy & Wellness Center provides outpatient physical and occupational therapy, as well as a variety of fitness and wellness programs to improve the health of the community.

Each hospital's Cost Index is calculated separately, based on data from its Local Blue Plan. Hospitals in portions of CA, ID, NY, PA, and WA may lie in areas served by two Local Blue Plans, resulting in two Cost Index figures; and their own Local Blue Plans decide whether all hospitals in these areas must meet Blue Distinction Centers+ national criteria for one or both Cost Index figures.
