The Aquatic Therapy program at Glendale Adventist Medical Center provides care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Many patients who find it diffcult to exercise on land find the therapeutic temperature of the water an idea environment for loosening stiff joints and exercising weak muscles.
Aquatic therapy is provided at the indoor therapy pool at Glendale Adventist's Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute. The program offers:
- Full-size pool with water maintained at 90°-92°F
- Buoyancy to unweight the joints and relax tissues
- A poolside lift for non-ambulatory patients
Conditions that may benefit from aquatic therapy include:
- Herniated discs
- Degenerative changes to the spine
- Chronic pain syndromes
- Total joint replacement
Independent Pool Program
The Indendent Pool Program is open to participants who are independent with their pool exercise program and no longer need supervision while exercising.
Entry into the program requires a physician referral (including diagnosis) for physical therapy followed by a clearance evaulation by a physical therapist at the GAMC Therapy & Wellness Center for a one-time cost of $282.
