Glendale Adventist Medical Center's commitment to servanthood means we make ourselves available to be present in all aspects of the lives of our patients and their loved ones. The need for spiritual support is often greatest when individuals are dealing with illness or injury.
At Glendale Adventist, care for an individual's body, mind and spirit is taken very seriously. Our Chaplain Services address the spiritual needs of our patients and their families.
Our chaplains are present and are on call, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A large contingent of volunteer chaplains from the various religious traditions in our community is also available to provide spiritual care.
Watch the video below to hear a short mesage from one of our chaplains.
Caring for one's spirit extends beyond an individual's stay in our hospital. Our Assistance Service and Support in Short Term Care (ASSIST) program takes care of urgent needs that might keep a patient from being either discharged or admitted to the hospital. When required, our chaplains make motel arrangements, order medications, and ensure that food and clothing needs are secured.
Of course, spiritual care is of the utmost importance when illness turns to end-of-life issues. The Beyond Loss Bereavement Ministry helps persons through the grieving process, following the loss of a loved one. The ministry conducts nine weekly group sessions, provides a quarterly newsletter and offers private grief counseling.
