Cancer ServicesCompassionate, State-of-the-Art Care

Cancer affects patients and their loved ones on several levels. There is the physical toll of the disease and, sometimes, the treatment itself. Cancer can have a profound affect on a person's self-esteem due to changes in appearance. In some varieties of cancer, a person's sense of mortality may trigger spiritual issues.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center's mission is to care for cancer patients physically, emotionally and spiritually, thus allowing cancer patients and their families to receive comprehensive care, close to home.

Certified as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons, Glendale Adventist blends sophisticated state-of-the-art technology and procedures for the detection and treatment of cancer with nutritional guidance, support groups and other services in the care of the whole person. Highlights of our Cancer Services include:

Prostate Cancer

The major options for prostate cancer treatment---surgery, radiation and hormonal blocking (anti-androgen) and brachytherapy---are all available at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

Cancer Services

Breast Cancer

The Breast Center at Glendale Adventist Medical Center offers leading-edge technology to accurately detect breast cancer and select treatment options. As the first hospital in Los Angeles to obtain the FDA-approved R2 ImageChecker, this technology enables our radiologists to detect suspicious changes in breast tissue - the earliest signs of breast cancer - allowing treatment to begin when the cancer is most curable.

Latest Technology

Cancer ServicesThe powerful, high-tech tools that help Glendale Adventist physicians detect and treat cancer include state-of-the-art spiral computed tomography (CT) scanning, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), three-dimensional treatment planning system and a linear accelerator.

Brachytherapy

This advanced cancer treatment option for some prostate cancer patients delivers high-dose or seed radiation directly to cancerous tumors, reducing the risk of radiating healthy tissue surrounding the tumor.

Infusion Center

Chemotherapy, blood transfusions and other services are offered in a friendly outpatient setting.

Tumor Board / Registry

As a requirement of being a Certified Comprehensive Cancer Program, weekly Tumor Boards are held to record, discuss and track the diagnosis, treatment and outcome of cancer patients. These boards consist of two surgical Tumor Boards, a didactic educational conference and a specialty OB/GYN conference. A new multidisciplinary neuro-oncology conference completes this complement of cancer care.
